BG Gas warrant

Hi, I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place?
BG are coming at the end of the week to fit a pre pay meter, due to my debt with them. I have no problem with switching to this, but I have a couple of questions if anyone can help?
My current gas meter is outside, do they still need to enter my house? Also,I applied for a pre pay meter earlier this year to help my debt, and the engineer came out, took one look at the location of my credit meter and said there wasn't room for a pre pay and drove off again. What will happen if they still say this?

The fitter may need access to make safety checks.
You would be well advised to contact BG and inform
them of the previous attempt to fit a prepay meter.
