Hi, don't know if anyone can help, I have of a copy bank statement, which has on it 'salary via chaps' and then an amount. There seems to be a regular amount , but it varies.
I am being lead to believe this is a legitimate payment, from an employer, but i think there is something dubious going on. Can anyone help with this. Could this be some kind of dubious banking system. can you transfer money from one of your accounts into another calling it 'salary' to hide money from bailiff and the like.

Are you in a job and is the the correct amount you should be earning for it? Do you have corresponding payslips?

Unusual for CHAPS to be used for something regular like salary payments, as it is relatively expensive and tends to be used for high value transfers in real time eg solicitors, conveyancers and mortgage lenders among others

Is this your banking statement?
It seems odd that you say you believe it is from an employer.
If it was your statement I would expect you to be able to identify the originator if it was your employer.

Possibly family ? Child maintenance? Or statement of means in a civil case?

Really need a bit more info Toby please.

CHAPS is a normal payment method, usually done to ensure payment is received the same day rather than rely on bacs or faster payment system.

Is this the case on the 'car thread' ? Re the witness intimidation/perjury? Think we'll need to sort out the threads so the different issues have their own, I'll have a look in the morning see if we can sort it out.. is the 'closing statement' thread related to the same case as this?

Salaries can vary, however, the payments would normally identify the name of the employer.

If you transfer money between accounts it would show as such and not as 'salary'. Bailiffs are used to seize goods, not money from bank accounts.

Okay had a look through the threads and there do seem to be a couple different issues and it's all a bit muddled so can't figure out what wants to go where.

If you give me a brief summary of each issue I'll try and work it out and get the threads in order which in turn will really help you get the help you need.

Usually known now as " same day automated payment" Costly for salary payments at £20-30 per transaction.
