  • Money Claim - Defendant refusal/failure to supply changed address for service

I have an ongoing money claim against an ex-tenant (theft and rent arrears). The case is due to be heard in the County Court (small claims track) three weeks from now.

The defendant address for service at the time of the claim and their acknowledgment of service and initial defense was my rental property.

They have since moved out but have failed to supply either ourselves or the court with notification of their new address for service. They have (in my opinion) a zero chance of winning the case. They have significant assets and are I believe still UK resident. Findermonkey has not yet managed to locate them as I believe they have deliberately kept a low paperwork profile. Possible work address of the defendant is known (only 50% sure).

Exchange of documents and witness statements are due in a week, and I really don't know what to do (or even if it is my problem). I can go ahead and serve them at the address given, which I know will not be received.

What is likely to happen next and is there anything I must do?
