  • Texts and calls from Frederick international and bryan carter solicitors

Hi, I'm looking for advice on whether the advise I gave my dad is correct and if any further action is needed to be done.

So what has been happening is my father has been receiving these texts and phone calls, recently from Frederick international asking to call on this number and referencing a number to them. I believe its concerning a debt my father has but my dad has no knowledge of any debts besides the mortgage. I am planning to hopefully get my dad's credit report soon to see if there is any outstanding debts but currently there seems to be no knowledge of any. So far I have told him to block the number and ignore any unknown numbers, though he already does that anyway. Now just yesterday my father had received a text from Bryan carter solicitors to contact them reference a number and its virtually the same text he had received from Frederick international but the name is different. Like before I told him to ignore and block the number. I told him that if its important they should put it in writing to begin with and not text people. I have done a bit research on both these company and it just seems they are one in the same (address matches) plus they also seem like they are just phishing for information. As well as I noticed that this is not the first time they have done this before.

Right now I just want advice on whether what my dad is doing is correct because I have seen other people face with similar problems and ignore it but later on have a court action put on them or threaten for court action. So I want to hopefully prepare myself if that day comes what action should I take, do I need to contact a solicitor? I know I've seen a "prove it" letter template that I could write to them if needed but is that best to wait until they put something in writing. I know I'm worried about something that has yet to happen but I like to prepare myself for all outcomes.

Thank you for taking your time in reading this and hopefully someone can provide me some answers

    Welcome aboard

First of all, even if there was an actual debt, what they are doing amounts to harassment and you should take a look at this thread and get your dad to send the letter posted on there: http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...om+harrassment

I would hold off sending the prove it letter till (if) they put something in writing. :typing:

I can't see any point in contacting a solicitor at this stage.

I think it would be safe to ignore for now (although I know you'll get advice from the knowledgeable Beagles too). If they send a letter detailing a supposed debt then you could always send a 'prove it' letter

You should be sent a court claim pack before court action starts too (so no worries there IMO either) which you would then have a chance to defend.

Thank you for the replies and I would look at that thread. I'll just tell my dad to ignore it for now until I get something writing. I thankful my dad's phone can block numbers.
Its weird that companies are allow to do this to people.

          .
If you look at that thread, you'll find they are NOT allowed to harass people at will. Even if your dad ignores the calls, it would be a good idea to log them. This can also be useful in the future, should they ever issue court papers. I remember reading a case against MBNA several years ago, long before the ruling posted on there, where MBNA took the defendant to court an lost on the basis of all the call and harassment they had inflicted. :thumb:
