  • CCJ WRONGLY issued by council

    Hi everone
I had problems with a housing benefit claim back in 2010 whereby the local council said they had overpaid us and after years of proof and many phonecalls, this year sent the debt in the form of a court order with bailiffs at my door etc.. we didn't owe the money so had to appeal to the council providing no further evidence than what had been provided before. Had to wait 2 months for them to finally agree that we were in fact entitled to the money they were trying to claim back. However there is a ccj on my husbands previously pristine credit history and for 2 months I've had promises to have this removed but it's still there preventing us from lending anything and especially getting a mortgage. This has gone on for so long and not once have I had an apology from the council for how we have been mistreated. Yesterday I was told by the legal department that she spoke to the court whom had no processed the removal of the ccj yet and would email them to hurry them up. I contacted the local councillor who said he would hurry it along but still today there is a bad score on my husbands credit report which previously was at the top of the scale. It doesn't seem fair that the council have harassed us for over 4 years for money we didn't owe then sent it to the court who put this ccj in my husband's name and we are the ones suffering. Does anybody have any advice on where to go from here?
