  • How big will it be......

    Hi there

i was hoping someone could prepare me for the shock.
i left the UK in August 2010 and arrived at the beginning of the year January 2015.
i stuck my head in the sand believing my then husband would be paying the debt off as he got everything. Sadly that was not to be the case.
i am waiting for my credit check to come back now but wanted to try soften the blow. This is what I remember

    £3000 Halifax credi card
    £1000 M&S credit card
    £600 next online clothing store
    £15/ month Vodafone 2yr contract.

what would the interest, charges, fees etc tally up to now??

    panic panic panic 😱😱😱😱

You'll probably find your credit files is a bit mucked up and the debts will have had a fair few charges on and been defaulted over the last five years. You might find you have had some charges and interest added but I don't think it will be as much as you are thinking.

If you left the accounts in August 2010 - then if you can keep out of the debt collection agency clutches until after August 2016 they may well be barred from collection under the limitations act.

Do you have contact with your ex still ? If your address was the same then he has probably had piles and piles of letters and calls over the last few years.

          Hi
We both left the property at the same time. I'm sure tons of letters and calls were made to the property.
I should get my credit check this week, nervous as hell.
I want to sort it out as I don't like this hanging over my head.

Would they settle for a less amount? If I owed £3000 could offer say £2000 to credit card in full and final settlement?
Better than £1 per month as I'm not working.
My new partner would like to help me out to clear the slate.
          Thanx
