  • Default on credit report

I have a default on my credit report which has stopped me getting a mortgage. I had saved enough for a deposit and then when I applied for my first mortgage I was turned down. It turns out I have a default for a mobile phone contract I had no knowledge of! I spent most of last year trying to battle this, finally took it to an ombudsman and unfortunately the decision remained.
I was prepared to give in and accept this and just pay of the debt as it wasn't a large amount but was affecting my life majorly.
I was told in the beginning of January Vodafone had 28 days to contact me to arrange a payment and then it would be marked as a late payment rather than a default.
We are now in May and I have had no response from Vodafone and have not yet been able to get through to speak to anyone about it. I have got in touch with the ombudsman to explain this and all I keep getting from them is 'they will let me know what has happened' then I don't hear anything again! It has been so frustrating and I am now having to rent even though I had enough for a deposit. I just want to pay the debt and start to try to repair the damage - but I have no way of doing it. They have ruined my chances of owning my own property for such a small amount and now it seems their not even bothered about getting it back! What do I do?? Help
