Long story short......... In October 2014 I got my first copy of my experian credit file and lo and behold I had a default from Lowell Portfolio for an old O2 account that ended in 2011.
I contacted Lowell in October via email asking for all copies of credit agreements etc but received nothing but a photocopy of an alleged statement from O2. I responded to this requesting the initial information I had asked for and got nothing back so it's currently being investigated by ICO for a breach of DPA.
Stupidly under the advice I received from my mortgage broker to obtain a mortgage I settled the debt with Lowell £648 two weeks ago but this has been eating away at me I know I had a phone but I cannot for the life of me remember owing O2 money. So I contacted O2 today and spoke with a customer advisor and with a customer relations manager who have both told me their records show no outstanding balance nor has there ever been and that my account was closed back in 2011!
So now what?? I contacted Lowell and informed them what O2 have informed me.... they came off with O2 wouldn't show any debt or outstanding balances as they bought the debt so basically they cleared it etc etc but that the debt does exist with them however they will escalate my complaint!!
Surely O2 would have this information if I owed them money and defaulted with them?? (I have recorded both conversations with Lowell and O2 but have sent a request today for the recorded telephone conversation with O2 so I can use this legally if needs be.......
Any advice would be most welcome
