  • Credit Report/Statute Barred Debt

    Hi All
I resolved many debt problems 6 yrs ago with massive help from Legal Beagles and have moved a long way forward from those dark times.I am trying to rebuild my credit rating with a view to getting a mortgage and buying a house with my partner and there are a few questions I'd like to ask

    1) Do all companies that hold credit info on you keep exactly the same info as each other?Do accounts on your file good or bad automatically drop off your credit file after six years and what can you do if they have not been removed?

    2) If a bank informs me they have written my debt off do I still have to pay it back(I have been making monthly payments albiet for a small amount for 5/6yrs now)

    3) Lowells bought an old debt of mine from Capitol One last November (£2500) removed the capitol one default from my credit file and replaced it with one of their own.I have requested the CCA and they have as of this date failed to produce it and it is currently with their complaints department and I have not heard from them in quite a while. The debt itself is I believe statute barred as capitol one never chased me after I asked them for the CCA years ago and the last acknowledgement of the debt in a form of a payment is now over 6yrs ago .
Are Lowells in a position to still chase the debt?If not will the new default they have placed on my credit file drop off as would the one entered by capitol one would have done after 6 yrs.

    Thanks
    Ade
