Re: Cabot Financial/Train2Game.
Im in the same situation. I have all documentation and im recieving letters from debt collection agencies. the first one gave up after i told them I was fighting the debt. The second one has just started issuing letters to me. I have a basic letter from help online. I was wondering who I send the letters to and How my first letter should really be worded.
I signed up to the Games Developer course with T2G. I didnt start recieving course material till a month after I signed the contract. Not a fair chance to be able to cancel the course when it turned up and it was a heap'o'crap. All software they "provide" you is free anyway. Course is so outdated I was incredibly dissapointed. I was hard sold the Course and was told if i didn't sign I could never re-apply.
False endorsements, madatory PPI of which they claim is free.
A test which i clearly failed as i was not at all in the right frame of mind getting only 50% correct out of the 14 maybe i answered out of about 25.
I've been debating whether to go to the doctors for anti-depressents as I'm under so much stress from this. I have done so well to get a really good credit rating & all will be destroyed by this illigitimate company.
Here is a mock up of all the ideas i've thrown into a document.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I have been mis-sold my Train2Game Game Development course.
My Registration Number is : ********
The reasons for this is are:
False Endorsement, Microsoft is plastered all over the course material & i was told T2G are endorsed by them when clearly they are not.
The course states when completed I will be awarded a Level 7 C&G qualification which is equivilent to a Masters Degree. However on other material it states it LEADS to a C&G qualification. SO WHICH IS IT?
TIGA Diploma. What a joke. Mention this in an interview with any games company. You practically get laughed out fo the door.
This seemed to be the salesmans main focus of the pitch. A Qualification that is simply bought into by a company. It means nothing in the games industry.
The following Laws are all breached by your agreement;
Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977,
Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999,
Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982,
I was told this would be an industry standard & recognised qualification, it's recognised as as scam and to a lower standard of free material online, all the software provided is of free opensource programs. The copy of Game Maker I recieved wasn't even of a "PRO" version.
I was promised a work placement within the first few modules however after research on T2G, it seems only 3 people out of over 5000 students got work placement, likely due to no effort on T2G's behalf.
The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008,
Unfair Commercial Practices Directive 2005
Additional notes: The Trade Descriptions Act includes illegality of false information whether given in writing or orally by a salesperson.
Under the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive the following are also illegal:
*False use of limited offers. (Being falsely told that there are limited places on a course may fall under this definition.)
* Marketing which plays on consumer's security fears.
* Misleading order forms.
* Aggressive doorstep selling.
* Inertia selling
* Emotional pressure. ("Explicitly informing a consumer that if he does not buy the product or service, the trader's job or livelihood will be in jeopardy.")
On the CFD agreement the following conditions are untenable.
Condition 3.2.2 is untenable, as you cannot pay anything to anyone if you are declared bankrupt, or if you are in an IVA.
Condition 3.2.4 is not only untenable, but absolutely ludicrous. How the Hell can you pay anyone anything if you are DEAD? Whoever concocts these contracts must be brain dead.
Condition 4.1 is just as crazy given the above.
Condition 6.2 is stupid and unfair enrichment, as if you withdraw you have no need of their services or products and therefore no requirement to pay a penny for them. This is also covered by the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations.
Apart from that this agreement is barely legible in parts and totally illegible in others.
This in turn makes the agreement void & would be laughed at by any solicitor.
I see your company has been a lot of trouble under your previous names with the BBC, false endorsements
I would like a full refund of the course including late fees & Deposits as well as an 8% interest rate added to the final sum.
I expect a response within 7-14 days or I will be contacting the Financial Ombudsman Service, CAB, Trading Standards & my solicitor about all the laws & regulations that are in breach, following your response I may choose to take it to court.
The balls with you.
Kind Regards!
Mr letter writer.

Re: Cabot Financial/Train2Game.
Not sure if people are still perusing this, however if you're credit agreement is with CDF, its another company Train2game own. Both of them have Jan Telensky as the director.
@bellaz, the TMA's are marked automatically by a computer, tutors do not mark TMA's, and the automation system sets a downtime for TMA's to stop people from progressing on the course to fast (For obvious reasons). The only courses that are accredited by City & Guilds are the Designer, Developer & Artist courses, and even those are sub par. (They will never get you a job in the industry alone)
If you do speak to Train2game they will try to call you, don't speak to them over the phone, ask them to send a written email so you have proof of what was said. I'm quite sure its illegal to record them speaking over the phone.Last edited by Provoke; 6th January 2015, 12:04:PM.

Hi Bellaz did you manage to get this sorted. Also Hi Kati do you think that there is any breach of Contract with the Course and any information on this breach of contract or info would be great.

Re: Cabot Financial/Train2Game.
Thanks for the address kati
I took the App development course and i started in july, the main reason i stopped paying was due to the fact that i was mis-sold the course the sales rep told me that i would get a city and guilds lvl 7 qualification, which apparently this course is not even registered with city and guilds, also whilst doing the coursework practical's the coding for the applications we had to use didn't work at all, the coding was wrong when i checked at the forum there were many people with the same problem, but the issue was never solved. When people asked about the coding they told us that the course didn't support c++ we had to source from youtube and online tutorials from other websites, as the c++ coding was only a basic glance on the course. Which kind of defeats the purpose coz no one will be able to build a game without it..
The final straw was i submitted exam 10r which is a recap exam on the 9th of october this was not marked until the 30th of october i phoned every 5 days to ask why this wasn't done as the site says between 3-5 days for marking they said it was an computer error at first and its was fixed so they would do it that day, but it never got done until the 30th (The day i stopped the payments) uhum.. XD I called train2game and told them that i stopped the payments, the guy told me the tutor had been sick all that time and couldn't get it marked, so i pointed out that a big company such as yourself only has 1 tutor? :P and then quickly he moved on to a system failure excuse.
I have sent an email to train2game but still had no reply as yet.. i will now put that in writing now i have an address thanks to you kati.
I will let you know if they make some sort of contact... heres to fingers crossed xxx

Hi bellaz,
to LB!
Which of the courses were you doing?
When did you sign up?
Searching on the train2game forum, I have found a postal address:
and looking back through this thread, the same address is on their letters (see post #42)MIS – Trading as: Train2Game, Hamilton House, 80-88 Collingdon Street, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU1 1RX
Personally, I believe that keeping everything in writing is a good idea - you always have something to look back on then :tinysmile_twink_t2:
Recorded/signed for letters (costs less than £2) and gives you proof of postage and delivery.

Re: Cabot Financial/Train2Game.
Hi,
I am reading all this stuff and i'm so glad this information is here as i am having exactly the same problem.
Due to the glossy sales pitch i got lured in hook line and sinker, i am at the stage of cancelled payments to the company and a letter has been written to them and the finance company who's name is career finance 4 trade skills Ltd.
The only way i have been able to contact Train2Game so far is by phone and email as i don't have an address i have googled Train2game and got multiple address's same with the finance company also has multiple address's, so i'm not sure lol!
I could use some advice as to where to go from here as i'm sure the default letters are on the way.
many thanks
