Hi recently made a visa dispute with my bank Halifax.
After looking at my account I realised there wherre many transactions for dec and jan, to who online.
I googled these and it came up as william hill, I do use gambling websites but could not rememeber having an account with them, so I contacted them and they couldn't find one for me, so told me to contact my bank.
I did so, originally the fraud dept, who came back and said they were made from an ip address I had previously used, so it was a visa dispute not fraud and they put me through to the relevent department after cancelling my card.
I told them I did not recognise them, and they said they would dispute them.
They refunded the money and said I would have to fill out paper work to state they were not genuine, if i didn't they would debit the money from my account.
I moved the money into my fathers account as they had cancelled my card and I had no access to any money.
Upon going through my bank I have noticed they have refunded ones that go back to Novemember which I had not noticed.
This jogged my memory that I opened my halifax account around that time and, signed up to a gambling website but could not remember which ( mainly because myself and my mother have quite a few different accounts and sometimes I play on hers ) anyway upon further investigation I have noticed they are infact genuine payments.
I have told the bank as soon as I realised and they stopped the dispute.
I am 27 weeks pregnant, and in hospital daily for blood pressure checks as I am quite ill with this pregnancy, this has added to the forgetfull ness and baby brain, it was a genuine mistake but now I am worried I am some how liable for fraud.
Theyve told me they will debit the money from my account in 3 days, but I am not sure there will be enough in there will they just take it and take me into an unauthorised overdraft or can they call the police?
I moved the money to my dads account so I had access using his card, he has alzheimers and I will have trouble getting him to the bank to return the money.
I am now very worried have contacted the bank to explain and no reply yet.
