Hi, I have received a threatening letter from debt collectors firm AJJB law. They have written to me using my maiden name and my parents address. I have been married and living elsewhere for over a decade. They allege I owe £291. I have written with their reference and told them this and asked for any data they hold on me under the data protection act. They won’t provide this as I refuse to give them my date of birth. How they would know my date of birth to verify items I don’t know! Anyway I have now asked twice for details of how and when I ran up this alleged debt telling them I do not believe I owe anyone anything and that I want their communications to stop as I am feeling very stressed and harassed.
can they take me to court if I refuse to pay for a debt I know both about ( they have failed so far to give me any more details).
Thank you in advance for your help. Regards, Emma
