  • 118 money - is this their M.O?

So a while ago I opened a 118 credit card. It appealed as apart from interest there were no fees. No non sterling transaction fees, no cash advance fees, no anything fees and the interest rate was ok- although I always pay off in full.
Late last year they almost doubled their interest rate to a 49.9 APR but I did nothing . Then this week they gave notice of fees and cash advance fees. At this point I closed the account , while useful I already have a Metro bank card for spending in Europe which is where I travel.

Maybe I overreacted as frankly these changes would not impact me but I wonder if this is their M.O.- decent deal then chip away at benefits.

    Just curious
    Thanks
    Matty

it's called inertia selling. Generous introductory deal, then up the cost on automatic renewals. It is endemic.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

Interestingly, now the account is closed I can see what they are offering new customers I.e ME. Lower APR and no fees. I can change my Barclaycard to a travel one. Might do that
