debt advice

Hi everyone I would just like some advice if you could,over 10 years ago I got myself in debt,I have recently been receiving letters from a company saying that I have to pay back £9500 and are threatening to take me to court to pay this,I was just wondering if there is anything that I can do to avoid paying this as I don't have the money to cover it

When was the last time that you made a payment or contacted the company?

Hi Mike I haven't made contact with this company my original debt was about 10 years ago again I made no contact with them they have passed the debt on to companies that have bought the debt thanks

Hi Mike apologies I'm new to this forum your saying send a copy of my letter to ostell?are they on this forum and the company chasing me is Mortimer Clarke Solicitors,I can't thank you enouhh for your advice as these letters are so stressful

Hi Mike so the letter that this company have sent me by what I've read and what you have advised I am to send what is is written on the statute barred template to them and keep a copy and send through recorded post ?

would suggest that if you are 100% certain, to see their response, there has been reports on the net of very old alledged debts being chased and companies trying their luck! they must be desperate
