  • Need helping checking fore CCJ's, how accurate should my details be?

    [EDIT]

I ended up finally ordering my online report, at least it was free!

    Cheers guys.

    _____

Hi guys, [Please forgive me title typo]

I'm getting fed up trying to sign up for my credit report so I want to skip the middle man and check for any CCJ's myself. I'm told I can search the registry trust for £6.00 per search (ouch)
My question is: How accurate does my name/address have to be to get a match i.e if I put my name as 'Michael' instead of 'Mike' will this affect this? Same with the address really. Or does it 'smartly'
check by using a post code and other details i.e surname?

    For example:

    Mike Smith
    1 newstreet road
    Somewhere town
    United kingdom
    ab1 tr3

    vs

    Michael ian Smith
    1 newstreet road
    ab1 tr3

I'm just worried if I do have a CCJ I'll end up having to buy 5x checks just to cover all my bases. I need to check at least 3 addresses.

    Thanks guys

      Hi,

Thanks but this just links me back to https://search.trustonline.org.uk/Search/Person. Unless this is what you're talking about but they've since upped their prices to £6.00,

. Each Trust Online search costs £6 and there are no free ways to do this.

Hi guys just to clarify, I'm asking about most efficient ways to check my details not the cheapest way. i.e I don't want to spend £12 checking both 'Mike' and then 'Michael'.

So my question was more along the lines of if either is likely to bring a match if the post code/ surname is correct. More accurately, my name is Chris so I would have had account in both Chris/Christopher.

          Cheers.

The honest answer is we don’t know, you will ha e to try both ways to find out.

Im curious why you are getting fed up of trying to sign up for your credit report, are the details you are entering not recognising you?

Have you tried signing up to Money Saving Expert’s Credit Club? It’s a free full Experian report. That would be your most efficient way of finding out your details.

Alternatively, your other option could be to request a statutory credit report from one of the lenders. By law you are entitled to a credit report for a small fee, believe it’s £2 and you have to supply a number of information including address history. Experian again would be your best bet and should show any Court judgments registered against your name.
If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you

              Hi,

Thank you. Whenever I sign up they can never match my details so somewhere I'm going wrong but I also don't want to bombard my details all over the place. I have Noddle, which is one down. I think I'll request the old paper way as you say, I remember doing this last time with no hassle (I always got hooked by the 'instant results' which turned out to be not so instant in my case'.

              Cheers.
