Hello there, I am considering taking out a debt relief order but I live in social housing. From what I can gather I need to include my rent arrears on the order but does that then put my tennancy at risk as the last thing I want to do is be evicted. I have had my tennancy for 24years and although it was council it was transfered to a housing assoiciation.

What would normally happen is the person dealing with your DRO would negotiate with your landlord and ensure your tenancy was not at risk. Most social housing providers have a policy regarding this so you should be okay. You could always contact your landlord and ask what their policy is. As a DRO does not stop your landlord from taking possession action against you, you might be able to include the rent arrears in your DRO but also come to an arrangement to continue paying them off. However, you can't add the payments as expenditure in your financial statement.
