Re: Common Financial Statement - Income and Expenditure

Concerned about debt, a group of churches developed a free debt advisory service with a retired bank manager, an accountant, a social worker, and a retired financial advisor. Many of those who had severe debt problems were very genuine but most were elderly. Some younger people were very genuine but they discovered a family of 4 whose house was about to be reposed with two new cars, by no means the cheapest models, 5 new televisions and 4 new computers. Another single mum with 3 children had just come back from taking her children to Florida. The debt counselling should start with some very basic information including; Do not but it unless you can pay for it. The first family had schools. work, and shops within walking distance so needed no car at all and the second family would probably been just as happy with a few day trips out of London on the train or bus with a cheap ticket.

        Hi geoffrey

So that's 2 out of how many?
There are, & I guess (given 'human nature'), always will be people who want to defraud 'the system', whether that be unscrupulous individuals cheating on benefit claims, others involved in insurance scams, or big financial firms who prey on the ignorance of ordinary folk, using sledgehammers to crack nuts & driving them into abject poverty........ or worse!

The single mum & her 3 children.......was it just a 'jolly', or (God forbid) was one of the children ill/disabled & had a dream of going to Disneyland? (Quite common, from what I've read).
What mother would not want to see the child happy? (I would imagine it wouldn't be too onerous for the financial institution to defer reclaiming their 'pound of flesh').
