  • MBNA put Cabot on to me - Don't beleive MBNA did all they could to help?

    Hi all.
Lomg story cut short, I fell behind with MBNA credit card payments due to a new baby arriving and parents having health issues. I had a few direct debits bounce and they have transferred me to Cabot Financial (who keep ringing and ringing but I am trying to hold off speaking to them until I resolve this with MBNA).
I have contacted MBNA to complain that I don't think they did all they could re me making payments - ie - I don't think they helped me with reducing payment amount.

    I have two questions:
    1. We have to remortgage later this year, just how bad is this for my credit record?
    2. Is there a way that one can challenge this or do they generally not go back on passing to a debt recovery company such as Cabot?

    Thanks in advance.

Send Cabot the following (they will no doubt pass it to MBNA), make sure you get Proof of Postage :-

    https://nationaldebtline.org/get-inf...sment-warning/

You can lodge a Complaint, follow MBNA's Complaints procedure on their website, once you get a final response / deadlock letter, if still not happy, complain to the FOS.

You could fill in an income / expenditure form, if you are left with £1 each month to pay them, so be it. Make sure you take into account the cost of living, energy, food etc. Make sure you get Proof of Postage.

Thanks, will do this today. Great help.
Quick one re making repayments following an income / expenditure form, once you go that route, just how bad is it for credit purposes, please?

          How old is the debt?

Does the debt appear on your credit report?

The debt is over 4 years old but I see that the default appears this year. I would like to challenge it due to family health issues but unsure whether this is a valid mitigating circumstance?

              You lose nothing in trying.

Give them an overview of your circumstances etc, i.e. carer, health etc.

Back it up with evidence. See how they respond, update the thread.
