  • Debt Collection Services UK Ltd - (Petmedics Vets)

I need a bit of help and support for a friend in need please .

They have had a letter sent to them, they have moved and only just found this address, the event was around 2015.

Debt Collection services have issued a letter for £290 (of which 56 is late payment fees) from petmedics. threatens legal action if not delt with.

However was for a pet that was ill, friend took them and paid originally for some treatment and then they kept the pet, as still ill. they then went to transfer the pet to the RSPC but was shut (as friend is on benefits) and these were closed as a weekend so transfered to pet medics. who left the dog in a cold van outrside for an hour and then unfortunaltey died.

What is the best way to deal with this... its casued a lot of distress.

    Thanks

Was a formal complaint made re Pet Medics at the time? and was the invoice disputed ? what does the invoice cover - the original treatment the dog had before the trasnfer to RSPCA ? or dealing with the death ?
Who transferred the dog from Pet Medics to the RSPCA ( or was it PDSA ? ) ? and who left it in the van ( Pet medics ? )?

She got the council to write to them as on benefits at the time, cant remeber if an invoice was sent, she will have a look now.

It was pet medics who transfered the pet, who was on intensive care that day as very ill and then drove it to the PDSA in Manchester without her consent, she only found out later they had taken off IC and moved. the PDSA then opened an hour later and the pet taken in.

She went to the PDSA and was asked why the pet was moved as was ill... it then passed away.

Thank you so much for the help.

Yip need the invoice and to know what was actually due and owing, and what was for services they provided that were unecessary/not arranged etc. Then she can make an offer on the actual amount she believes is owing if necessary to keep them from going to court.

eg. have they invoiced her for transfer - which was done without her permission/say so
then you have to ask why did they move to PDSA - had she told them she couldn't afford to pay?
Why did they transfer without checking PDSA was open and available to accept the dog
            etc etc

              Does she ignore?

I wouldn't ignore, but need to know the situation and what the bill was for before replying to them to argue the toss. She can ask for a full breakdown of the invoice if she doesn't already have it. Also if she did complain/dispute at the time inform them of that.
