  • best way of dealing with Lowell

    Hey,

I have just looked at my credit file and seen that some of the debts I accrued many years ago during a bad patch has been purchased by Lowell, I can't remember what these are for and there is no notes on the experian credit files to say what they are.

Whats the best way of dealing with Lowell as I have heard they purchased old debts and can sometimes chase debts that are statute barred or record incorrect default dates ?

Can anyone give me some advise please ?

Looking at sorting my credit file out and dealing with any debts that are valid but have heard about the "underhanded" tactics that some DCA's apply.

    Thanks

    Scott

    1st steps with Lowell

    Hey,

Sorry I didn't see that threat when I posted in another on a few minute ago..

Right - where to start. There are a number of defaults on my credit file that are all registered with Lowell. On Experian there is no way of identifying what the debt was for or any reference number.

Whats the best way of finding out what these are for, working out if there are statute barred and ultimately removed the ones that are not valid and dealing with the ones that are ?

Basically I am trying to sort my finances out now.

    Any advise would be great

    Thanks

    S

Try Noddle the free credit reference agency online, it sometimes has more detail on the accounts.
Lowell usually report in the manner of " Creditcard from Lowell Financial" on the credit files.

You can get an idea of some details from the account start date and the default date on the entries.

thanks - set up a noddle account and see what they are for now - good call.

it i request the credit agreements via a SAR or CCA (sorry not familiar with the terminology yes) does that act in any way as an admission as far as anything being S Barred ?

SAR is for All the personal data the original creditor hold on you. (fee £10.00)
The CCA request is for a copy of the agreement and a current statement of the account. (fee £1.00
CPR 31.14 (Civil Procedure Rules) is for copies of the documents mentioned in the Particulars of Claim (POC) and is sent to a claimants solicitor. (no fee).

Requests for information are not an admission of liability. You can always make the simple statement * This letter is not an admission of any liability " to the letter (s).
