  • Newbie needed advice re Motor Mile Finance

Hi all. New here so please excuse my lack of knowledge in this area.

For a few weeks I received junk emails from MMF with what I now know to be their usual blurb re collectors etc. I ignored them as I have no debts outstanding that I dont have repayments in place for. Today, we received text messages (we've recently upgraded our phones, with me moving to a contract one) today using the same tactice re collectors etc.

Neither of us have any outstanding debts so cant understand why these moron's would be so keen to contact us. We'll be reporting them to Trading Standards and have blocked their number from texting and from calling but is there anything further we should be doing?

    Thanks all!

Id love to know how they get peoples mobile numbers when they have recently changes phone and numbers - I suspect they maybe some data protection breaches going on with the phone companies.

For now just ignore Motormile Finance. its for them to proof that you owe a debt and not, as they like to put it, for you to proof you don't! Had dealings with these muppets in the past and even had to explain to their managing director the law on CCA and Default notices etc.

Hi guys, thanks for your advice

I have no Idea how they got our mobile numbers. The only thing I can think of is that I recently changed from PAYG to a contract phone with O2 and upgraded my wifes phone onto a new contract on the same account on O2. Surely O2 can't sell this info on?
Also, re my email address, I don't have a common name and my email addy certainly isnt one you could fathom out from just my name. Yet they do have my name.
This certainly seems strange. I did have Pay Day loans in the past but these were settled before the due dates EVERY time, by looking around they appear to deal with these sort of firms. Have they just got hold of my info and are trying it on? It certainly seems that way to me.

Seems it's happening, there is quite a lot of info about it.

That is scary. I think I'll be contacting O2 a bit later on about this. Been with them for years and this is how you get treated.

Just had a call from MMF. That number has now gone on the block list!

Update - It transpires they are try chasing me for a balance I settled years ago! I've moved house since though so I dont have proof of settling the debt. I recently got a mortgage and the debt didnt show up on their checks. I assume I continue the ignore approach as they are yet to either write to me or provide proof I owe a balance!
Plus the email they sent me (which they HAVENT confirmed is really me) gives my name, the company they claim the debt is to and the reference with the amount they claim is owed. Surely a DPA breach?

Last year Motormouth chased me for months with their ridiculous letters and texts plus numerous message on my phone. I just ignored the scum and they slithered back under the stone they crawled out from.

Times must be hard for them now as they have now resorted to contacting me by email. Needless to say all their messages end up in the junk folder

Is it worth sending them a letter advising to cease harrassing us & the Implied Access refusal letter or just continue to ignore them?
