Depending on the DCA they may simply fire off a Northampton Bulk Claim at your last known address.
Other than that not a great deal TBH.

What sort of threats are they making? Some threats are a definite no-no where the OFT is concerned. If the threats fall within the no-nos listed in the OFT's Debt Collection Guidelines, then the DCA in your case could be in the brown and smelly stuff with the OFT.

As for the matter involving the bank, has this been investigated by the regulators or the Insolvency Service?

If we are talking debt collector as in the only arm of the business then they will have bought the debt for peanuts and hope that by harassing you with letters/phone calls/ threats and the odd doorstep visit your just going to give in and cough up...finding you is easy.... they buy info from ulility companies. online store transactions even a bus pass list from your local transport service is up for purchase...so they can and do have many ways to track you down....recently a friend of mine after staying untraceable for many a year, got a knock on the door from a DCA..friendly enough guy who knew he had less power than a light bulb but her curiosity made her ask how he got her address....BINGO and I mean that literally for she had in fact joined an online bingo club only a few weeks previously?????

I did tell her she should have read the small print for 'gambling awareness', she quickly retorted 'life's a bl**dy gamble but it doesn't come with a warning' lol
