Hi Cardlaw and welcome to Legal Beagles.

I feel that you need to speak to a free debt counselling service or charity to help you with your problems. Debt management companies are not always the best solution. If you click on the FORUM tab at the top of the page, then scroll down, on the right-hand side of the page, towards the bottom, you will see a logo for Consumer Credit Counselling Service, a registered charity, who can provide you with free advice and help.

You can do your own debt management, we have all the letters on here, but I would warn you that you have to be extremely disciplined, it's hard but worth it in the end.
You can list your debts on here or if you want privacy you are welcome to send me a list via pm and i'll take a look and see if there's anything that can be done.
Have you done an income and expenditure form ? There's a tab at the top of the forum called Debt, click on there and you'll find all kinds of guides, letters and forms in there and remember to shout loud and clear, we are all here to help you.

pay a pound a month to your creditors if that is all you can afford

allways pay your priority debts such as rent, mortage, council tax

i would arrange to pay these dca the bare minimum, then put any surplus into your bank account, then after a time offer the dca a final settlement figure, say 10 to 15 pence in the pound as a fiull settlement of the debt

            Hi Carldaw,

the important thing when dealing with debt is not to allow it to overwhelm you, been there and you need to form a plan otherwise it will cause you a massive head ache, get everything together and organised totals and income expenses then you have a start point which is what many people put off I have been in same situation and it takes a mental shift to decide to deal with all once you do this speak to the experts for free as advised above and ask people on here to help it is possible to get out and drastically reduce your debt - others have done it so get strength from that

what one man / woman can do another can do use the tools to make your life easier and hang in there you are not alone in this game :
