  • Do companys check both Experian and Equifax

Just wondering if when you apply for credit do the company in question check both Experian and Equifax or one or the other? One file of mine is really good , one is really bad, could one find companys that check only one file and would this be of use? Worth looking into.

Most check just one of the main three credit reference agencies (you don't mention Call Credit), but some places check more than one. There is no hard and fast rule. :beagle:

Thanks Labman,Doe's that mean all is not lost? I could try to find out which entitys just search my good file, might help me establish some credit. I have 5 defaults and three are removed in a few weeks ,tla, but still leaves two defaults on the poor file. Maybe a bank might give me a debt card soon.

        Hi Banksters,

If you are wanting a bank debit card, there are quite a few banks which offer a debit card, standing orders and direct debits as a matter of course with their basic bank account. I know good ones include Co-operative, Nat West and Barclays (no doubt people will post up bad experiences with these banks now, but on the whole they are good for these accounts). There are others - see here:

The information may (or may not) be slightly out of date as it doesn't appear to have changed much since I found it about a year ago.

        Good luck!
