    Are these people comedians?

Why do they have to keep changing their hats?

Red Debt is just a trading style of Lowell Financial Limited.
However, they purport to be something that they are not!

I have in front of me a letter from Red Debt Collection Services.
But they state that they are the Special Recoveries Team for Red Debt Collection Services. They have passed your account to us. But they are them: Red Debt Collection Services?

Maybe, these clowns should appear on live at the Apollo?

Anyhow, the scum want the the party concerned to call now for 50% off the (alleged) debt. Or a monthly repayment arrangement of £20.

If they do not hear within 10 days we will recommend our client, themselves, sends your account to a licensed field agent who will visit you at your home and discuss face to face your reasons for non payment.

If, you feel confused after reading the above do not worry:beagle:

I think they are the worst of a bad bunch for this. To be honest, it gets very confusing and scary for people who are not in the know as you clearly are.

The 50% discount speaks volumes about the actual debt itself, and should be kept as evidence in case needed in the future.

I am sure you are aware of this, but for those that may not be, it is perfectly possible to withdraw the right for these people to enter your property. I know of people who keep the relevant letter by their front door to pass to DCA's if they do visit.

They should never visit without a prior appointment (to which you do not and should not agree), and even then it is extremely rare for them to carry out their threats. :beagle:

        Well said, labman!

Here is the letter to which you refer:

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Date:.............

        Dear Sir or Madam,

THIS LETTER DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY DEBT OWED TO YOU OR, YOUR AFFILATES, AGENTS, OWNERS OR, OTHERWISE.

Should it be your intention to arrange a “doorstep call”, please be advised that under OFT rules, you can only visit me at my home if you make an appointment and I have no wish to make an appointment with you.

There is only an implied license under English Common Law for people to be able to visit me on my property without express permission; the postman and people asking for directions etc (Armstrong v. Sheppard and Short Ltd [1959] 2 Q.B. per Lord Evershed M.R.).
Therefore take note that I revoke license under Common Law for you, or your representatives to visit me at my property and if you do so, then you will be liable to damages for a tort of trespass and action will be taken, including but not limited to, police attendance.

        Yours faithfully,

        Print name, do not sign.

However, as the individual does not reside at the address to which the licensed field agent (meritforce) intends to carry out a face to face home visit. The field agent may finds themselves with a wasted journey and there is no need for the above referenced letter.

Last and not least, the purported paltry debt is well an truly statute barred!

No doubt the comedians are aware of this
