I have a mis-sold debt from Close Motor Finance, of which almost all was paid. This was another one of those companies who got very heavy and intimidating if you had problems so because I didn't know the rules back then (2009) and felt that they were leaving me no way to go in terms of help, I did what a lot did back then and left the debt. I tried to speak to them reasonably but they kept putting some guy on the phone who would spend an hour talking, coming to no resolution apart from getting quite threatening.
Anyway, being older and wiser, I am now in the process of clearing up my credit rating, the people that gave me bad ratings are a bunch of liars anyway.
I wrote to Close on 13th December asking for a copy of the contract, they phoned next day and left a voicemail saying they wanted to talk to me which I ignored - I don't do phone calls anymore with people who lie.
So, the question is, how long do I wait to receive a copy of the contract before I ask for their credit reference agency and seek to get it removed?
Should I now send a letter that says I will only deal with them in writing? I'll do it if necessary but don't want to spend time doing letters that aren't. To be fair to them (should I be??), I didn't have a contract number to quote but gave them name and car reg, didn't sign the letter obviously.
So, next step - letter saying write only, or straight into a letter asking for their credit agency and how long should I give waiting for the copy contract?
Thanks for any help you can give folks.
