  • Welcome haunts me with a default

I took a loan out with welcome in 2006 but not long after the CSA came into my life and turned my world upside down. I was unable to pay them or anyone else for that matter.... So I was paying what I could when I could.

I had them on my doorstep and the phone all the time and when I moved I went into hiding from them... Yes I know not the best way to deal with any debt but at the time I really could not deal with it all... So head in sand it was...

Years have passed and nothing was heard from them..... 4 years after my last payment to them I'm sorting out my life and getting my credit score back to normal when wham.... Welcome lodge a default against my credit file in July 2010...... 3 years after the last payment made.... Never received any thing from them but seems they sold the debt and did the default at the same time.

So my problem is that this big red D has killed my credit score and Ability to get anything and I mean anything...

options..... As its a pre April 2007 loan is it worth finding out if the agreement can be over turned?

Even if I find out who they sold it to and pay it off the default will stand for 6 years... But is that from the issue date or the date of the last payment?

While running away at the time is not something I'm proud of and if I change it I would... But if I don't sort this out it's on my file till 2016!!! I had hoped to buy a house before then.

    Any help would be great.
