Turned into work as normal yesterday. Shift manager says the above company have tried to contact me in work. Firstly, I have no debts and have just borrowed £120 k on a new house. Secondly, I have heard nothing from this company by post or telephone at home. I am concerned that they can just contact someones place of work without ascertaining that they have the right person. Are they in breach of a DCA's code of conduct by ringing my workplace. Should I just ignore it, am slightly bothered they will try to send a letter to my place of work, as they appear to not have my address details. Reading other comments about this group, I am reluctant to give it. Any advice on this please.

    Typical Mucky Hall tactics.
Report them to the OFT & trading standards.
They should not be contacting anyone at work and they know it.

As mr Ton said, report them to the OFT as they are in breach of the OFT guidelines.

Also just to add, if by any chances they revealed the reason for their calling you to your shift manager then they are also in breach of the data protection act. Infact giving any form of info including their company name (as it can be searched online) that may leave to embarrasement of yourself may put them in breach of CPUTR 2008 as well.

Its also worthy of note that Mackenzie hall have a lot of statute barred debts, so what they are calling about could be 6 years, 10 years or more old.

If they every manage to speak to you and ask you about a debt, they will try to get you to admit liability which means they can then begin collecting. A tactic they try is 'do you remember XYZ from 'somebank' from 'XYZ years ago' ? Whatever you do, do not say yes

They also have a habit, and I suspect this is what has happened here, of finding everyone they can with the same name as the debtor and harassing all of them in the hope they strike lucky.

As said above, I think you should report this incident to the OFT as it is totally in breach of their guidelines (and a load of other legislation!)
