Re: Wends Debt Thread
Well, the car's gone, the finance is settled. We still have 2 cars as we decided to keep the "do-er up-er" as it is taxed and MOT'd, and we'd only make a couple of hundred quid by selling it, offset that against the cost of public transport and it's not worth the grief. Insurance has reduced by £23 per month so that's good. Fuel should reduce too, but probably not by much because of the hike in fuel prices. Our wages will be increasing by about 45 a month due to the change in Personal Allowances, so can't be all bad, can it
With regards to public transport, my daughter works 5 miles from home, her journey is 15 minutes max by car, costs about 10 quid a week in fuel. If she used public transport, she would have to leave the house at 7.30am latest, and catch THREE buses plus a 10 minute walk in order to get there for 9am. Cost would be 15 quid a week.
My own journey is 3.5 miles, 10 mins each way max, 10 quid a week max. Public transport would be an hour each way, 2 buses each way, and 15 quid a week. Hardly surprising we don't use public transport, isn't it?
