    Re: Wends Debt Thread

Well, the car's gone, the finance is settled. We still have 2 cars as we decided to keep the "do-er up-er" as it is taxed and MOT'd, and we'd only make a couple of hundred quid by selling it, offset that against the cost of public transport and it's not worth the grief. Insurance has reduced by £23 per month so that's good. Fuel should reduce too, but probably not by much because of the hike in fuel prices. Our wages will be increasing by about 45 a month due to the change in Personal Allowances, so can't be all bad, can it

With regards to public transport, my daughter works 5 miles from home, her journey is 15 minutes max by car, costs about 10 quid a week in fuel. If she used public transport, she would have to leave the house at 7.30am latest, and catch THREE buses plus a 10 minute walk in order to get there for 9am. Cost would be 15 quid a week.
My own journey is 3.5 miles, 10 mins each way max, 10 quid a week max. Public transport would be an hour each way, 2 buses each way, and 15 quid a week. Hardly surprising we don't use public transport, isn't it?

Bristow & Sutor - Goodbye forever!!!

I have now made the final payment on my council tax arrears. As of now, we are completely up to date. No arrears, and this year's instalments all paid.

Only one more payment left to make to Moorcroft, too

You're right Amy, it hasn't been easy. But it was necessary. I would advise anyone who is debating missing a month's council tax - DON'T!! Whatever else you don't pay, make sure you pay the Council Tax (and of course the mortgage). I always think it seems the easy option, when you're absolutely brassic, not to pay the C Tax. It may seem that way but it isn't, not really, in the long run.

Great news Wendy and on Moorcroft too. It'll feel fantastic once that ones paid off too.
