  • Mysterious Letter from Marston Group?

I've had a letter from Marston Group Ltd saying that "We are in possession of a Magistrates' Court Order as a consequence of non-payment of the above fine."

The client is listed as HMCS Hampshire & IOW.

I have no knowledge of any fine - the amount is £1375!

It is addressed to The Company Secretary - I have a Ltd company that is registered to my home address.

What should I do - they say full payment is required in 7 days or bailiffs will be served to recover property?! I received the letter today (26th) and it was dated 17th November. Is this a hoax? How can I confirm what the fine is supposedly for?!

    Marston Group

HMCS Hampshire & IOW is the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Court.

I would probably call them in the interim and find out - call the number listed on the website, or call the court to find out the details.

Not a lot of things it could be, do you run any company vehicles - maybe a speeding/parking ticket or some such thing that you never received........... just a thought.

      Thanks.

I have a van - that's about the only asset the company has.

Thanks - however I hope it can be resolved before they send any bailiffs around!

Did they give you the details of the judgement - i would be tempted to call the courts for the info rather than marstons - everything is conjecture untill you know whats its all about.

No details at all - just a reference number. My concern is that they'll send Bailiffs so they can charge extra before I can even find out what the fine was supposedly for!

Marston will undoubtedly have added fees to this account already - they are bailiffs and they lie, but it does not automatically mean that you must pay them.

Do as Paul has suggested and speak to the court first thing Monday morning.
