I moved from the uk to NZ 4 years a go. It was an expected stay after being on holiday there. I worked at a vodafone store funnily enough and emailed my manager to let him know I wasn't returning and asked to cancel my pay monthly phone.
I was living at my parents address and this is where my account was registered to (even Lowell's can confirm that). However until they started harassing my parents a few weeks a go we had not received any notification whatsoever of any money owing to vodafone. All Lowell's can supply me with is a total number of around 500 pounds with no breakdown just calling it line rental, calls and termination charges (suggests to me they don't actually have any bills).
I've contacted vodafone direct to try and get some details on what I owed and why, but was wondering what the legality is of handing debt over to a debt collection agency without sending any bills to my old home address first?
Interestingly enough the letter lowell's sent with details of the charge was only after me requesting it and stated that i have 10 days to pay despite me saying that I dispute the debt.
Thanks in advance for any help
