  • welcome car finance gap insurance

I VT'd my car about 5 months ago and had paid the half way point and welcome accepted VT with no issues. However when I bought the car Gap insurance was added at my request and as far as I was aware the payment for this was added to the loan and split across the monthly payments and therefore included in the half and thirds figures for repossession and VT rights.

I paid one monthly direct debit as set out in the payment schedule. On vt'ing the car welcome sent me a bill for £300 stating it was to pay off the outstanding amount payable to them for the gap insurance.

They failed to pick the car up for about 9 weeks and tried to charge me monthly payments again I kept the letter stating they were due to pick the car up 14 days from receipt of their agreeing to the VT and of course told them where tog et off with regards this request for payment which they backed down on.

Basically do I have to pay the £300? I have made a payment of £80 towards this so far a s a good will gesture as they have not put a satisfied note on my credit file re the car loan it is showing as in debt but surely the agreement finished when they picked the car up?

Just need clarification what if anything I can do or if I just have to accept I have to pay please
