I have a debt that is outstanding that I took out back in 1997. I defaulted the credit card a few years ago and have been paying a debt collection company minimum payments each month.
I dont see this debt ever getting settled given the amount involved.
As the credit card was taken out so long ago I thought prior to 2007 that if the debt company (who now owes the debt) took me to court that they would need to have a copy of the original agreement (assumed signed by me).
Is this still the case or can they just print off what they think where the terms at the time?
I suspect now the signature will be missing given the number of years that have gone.
This debt worries me to death and I am constantly ensuring what I have agreed to them all be it a small payment is paid on time each month. Constantly ensuring they know I am trying to do my best.
i am just worried that if i open any cans of worms or start fighting back that they will turn nasty.
Your thoughts please
