  • Lowell - Recovery by court action expired

    Hi,

I received an email regarding an old debt. I asked them for information re default date. Their reply was:

The period for recovering your account, Lowell Ref ######, by court action has expired. We will not be issuing court proceedings to enforce payment. However, your debt still exists and legally we are within our rights to continue to ask you for repayment.
I assume this means the debt is statute barred - I only need to tell them I will not pay the debt, at which point they will need to stop chasing?

    Thanks,
