My O2 account had a balance of £57 from 17/03/2018 which I didn't notice until I was contacted by a company called Lowell a few months ago who said they bought it from O2. So I paid them the full amount on 17/05/2021 and I thought that was the end of it.
But now I see on my credit report that although the Lowell account was marked as satisfied on 7/06/2021 I still have the original O2 account marked as being in default from 17/03/2018 for the same £57.
So now I'm confused, am I expected to pay O2 and this Lowell company for the same bill twice that I apparently missed at the end of a contract in 2018? Or is Lowell supposed to notify O2 that I've paid them?
Any advice appreciated.
