  • Cabot Financial - Advice please on dealing with 2016 CCJ

Am in the process of tidying up my finances and dealing with some historical debts.* *Have obtained credit reports from different agencies and established that things were not as bad as I always believed them to be.* * As part of this process I found a CCJ registered in Northampton for March 2016.* On contacting the court, they said that the case had been taken up more locally, so contacted the local court.* *They advised that the case was registered to Cabot Financial and that they did not have details of any underlying creditor.* * *The CCJ was for 1105.* *I had recently received a letter from Cabot demanding 1340 in relation to a Credit Card that I had defaulted on in early 2010 following a bereavement.* * *It would seem that Cabot obtained the CCJ just about the time that it would have been statute barred, but had sent all of the information to a previous address, so I was unaware of their intention to go to court or their subsequent attempts in 2017 and 2018 to issue a warrant of enforcement, which were unsuccessful as I had moved in 2015.* * The recent letter makes no reference to any CCJ and seemed much more of an appeal rather than making any threats.

This is the last remaining default/CCJ on my record and I have 3-4 years of history of no missed payments.* *My query is whether to continue my credit repair journey I pay this 1340 to Cabot or do I have other options in the situation?* *I presume offering a settlement would not assist in the impact of the CCJ on my future prospects of being able to get a mortgage?* *

    Any advice gratefully received!
