My troubles started when I was off of work through injury. Having been told I needed PPI to get the loan (£16,000 secured), I put in a claim. I was told my knee injury was not qualifying for PPI unless I have a referral to a specialist with Physiotherapy.

Missing some payments, BF then sent me a letter to tell me to pay all of the arrears or I would be taken to court in repossession proceedings. I called them and offered to pay £100 per month until arrears were paid off when I was back at work. They refused to accept the offer.

In court, I couldn't afford to pay for legal representation. I again offered £100 per month, which was then accepted by their legal representative.

Following the publicity on mis-sold PPI, I sent a complaint on a formal form to BF to claim back the £2,500 of PPI plus the £000's of interest added to my account. They sent a letter saying I needed to contact the broker, Click for Freedom, and that was that. I am now speaking to the FSA and a legal representative.

BF have also added on Buildings Insurance to my loan, even though I told them the management agents name and address. I didn't ask for BI; yet, they added it anyway. They should not accept loans and release money until seeing this document if that is what they need. Again, talking to FSA and legal representative.

Having paid off the arrears, I then discovered they have set up a second account for fees, which then incur interest and charges. My belief was that these fees and charges would be paid off with the court order. I now owe over £400 and growing. Again, talking with FSA and legal representative.

My balance now stands at over £22,000. The interest charged (12.2%) is more per month than my payments. I will never pay off this loan, which is for 25 years.

Therefore, I am thinking: unfair contract, mis-selling, forced policies, forced repossession, irresponsible lending, freud, and victimising for profits.

      Unbelievable.

Thanks, guys. I am just so angry I ever was so stupid to have taken out any loan with this company. They are so borderline illegal it isn't funny. They are ruining lives. Plain and simple.

I have read through others accounts here. It is truely sad to read about the lengths they will go to. The court case won against them says it all...trying to repossess and increase the arrears on someone who has suffered without trying to help them. There is a name for that!

This company need a massive law suit brought by many customers who want a trial. Until then, they won't change. American capitalism at its best.

I had the misfortune to need to borrow some money in November 2007 and Blemain Finance provided me with £30,000. Last year I ran into financial difficulty and ended up defaulting on several payments. I had to place my house on the market as I had no way of paying these arrears off which were climbing fast. I reduced the price of my house by 50k and sold it. Blemain demanded £46,000 to settle the loan leaving me know other choice than to pay this crazy amount. I need some help in taking some action against them. Will anyone help me please?

Can I clarify what action you want to take against them and what reasons(for clarity)?

The very fact that I borrowed £30,000... Paid around £6000 in repayments and still owe £46000.

That is a very common bone of contention amongst borrowers. Have you asked Blemain for a full breakdown of the charges they have placed on your account?

Just to let all Blemain customers know, they now have up-dated their Tarifff of charges effective 1st June 2011. This should be on their web-site.
Many charges appear to have gone down considerably and this begs the question "why?"
My guess is that they have been called to task and suggests that challenging previous charges applied to accounts is worth persuing.

Also both myself and several other customers who asked for details of the insurance policies taken out by Blemain on our properties appears to have enabled Blemain to find the letters sent to them previously, which had our enclosed our insurance documentation!
Never under-estimate the magic of "recorded delivery"!! Either its casts a spell on the post-man delivering or on Blemain opening letters!

Have any other Blemain customers received "repalcement loan statements" this week, and been told to disregard previous statements sent out (because Blemain say "customers have found retrospectively added adjustment charges confusing"...and then an apology for any confusion?
I've looked at mine and I'm now even more baffled! :der:

Correction: I've just checked again today, and this is the tariff page. It seems you need to request a copy now.

and sadly despite the letter Blemain sent me to say they had in fact received my insurance details and the charges Blemain had applied for this would be adjusted, there is no adjustment!

aww thanks for the thought jumper. I'm drafting a letter of complaint, decided just to follow the guidelines on here for now

                              http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.u...complaints.htm

If blemain take no notice, think I'll just go back to financial ombudsman, I'm tired of riding a merry-go-round!

I'm wondering why they've taken all the information off their web-site now though? Everything in their letters suggests that customers phone them, but from experience I've found phone calls are very unhelpful.

I will try and type out Blemain's Complaint Procedure below:

                                COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE SUMMARY:

We aim to resolve your complaint by the end of the next working day of receiving it.

If we are unable to resolve your complaint by the end of the next working day, your complaint will be escalated to our Group Customer Relations Department. They will contact you within 3 working days to let you know that they are dealing with your complaint.

Our Group Customer Relations Department will investigate your problem further to understand the impact and agree a resolution with you: if a resolution cannot be agreed they will let you know how to escalate your complaint further.

                                Stage 1

In the first instance, you should raise your complaint by phone, email, fax, write or send us a website complaint form. We'll try our best to resolve the problem immediately, or by the end of the next working day.

                                Stage 2

Our Group Customer Relations Department will take ownership of your case and see it through to resolution. We will:

                                2. Aim to resolve your complaint within 4 weeks of you making your original (Stage 1) complant. If this has not been achieved, we will write to you and let you know what stage our investigations are at and whne they hope to be completed by.

                                3. Wiithin 8 weeks of you making your original (Stage 1) complaint, provide you with either our Final Response or advise you that we need more time to investigate your case. In the unlikely event that we are unable to issue a Final Response to your complaint within 8 weeks of us receiving it or, if after receiving our Final Response, you still do not accept our decision, you can refer your case to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). We will give details of how you can do this when we send our Final Response but we have included their contact details for you on the back page of this leaflet.

                                Stage 3

If your complaint is escalated to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), we will work with them and provide whatever information they require. We will also abide by their final decision.

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) exists to mediate on complaints between customers and financial services firms when they cannot come to an agreement themselves. There is no cost to customers for their services.

                                IMPORTANT NOTE:

If your complaint is about a product or service that is not regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) or the Consumer Credit Act (CCA) (2006) the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) may not be able to consider your complaint. In these instances (and e'll make it clear to you if they apply), you may be able to escaalate your complaint to the Finance & Leasing Association (FLA).
