  • Flangies V Cap One

    Hello All

Is there a letter template, asking CAP ONE to reduce or stop the interest on my account, I am having a few problems of late keeping up with my payments, especially becuase of the interest!

They have told me that they are happy to arrange a payment plan, but cannot reduce interest!

It looks like a letter asking for my charges back is the right route for me!

    Help appreciated

Cap One are lying through their teeth. If they want, they can write off the whole debt, let alone freeze interest.

If I were you, I would get a Common Financial Statement drawn up by a FREE debt charity (National Debtline, CAB, Payplan, mine, CCCS etc...) and get them to submit the request on your behalf. It will carry much more punch that way.

The alternative is to complete a CASHflow statement:

    CASHflow - Login

where a licensed advisor will sign off your Income and Expenditure form, and you can submit it yourself using the template letters provided once you register with a CASHflow advisor. In theory, this should carry the same weight as a Common Financial Statement.

There are template letters, but to be honest, you'd be better off, in my opinion, pursuing one of the above routes.

        Hello

Thanks so much for your advice. I will contact debtline.
Shall I apply for the unlawful charges from cap one again? I did this last year and won back £2,300 back from them!

            Hi flangie,

We see a lot of that.
Sounds as if you've been cold-called by a Claims Management Company.
Don't enter into any agreement with them.
Can you give us their name?

Flangie whatever you do, do not pay any upfront fees. The liklihood of having any unenforcable credit cards is extremely remote. The best you can do is get a refund on credit card fees charged to you and this easily done yourself without the intervention of a Claims management Company and the complete refund is all yours.

I have come accross Consutium reclaim before stay well clear Flangie. See here on Money Saving Expert http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct...l16gjtE9MQB0gA

If you any further calls from them tell them that you dont want their services and you want them to remove your phone number from their data base.

Also Flangies we have also a thread here on Consortium on Legal Beagles http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...ad.php?t=33708
you will see that we have already reported them to the Ministry of Justice since one of our members complained to us about their call and a case that I just read on Money Saving Expert they parted with £800 some month ago and have not heard a word since and cannot get any responses from them either.

Yes of course if you have paid further charges you can always write and ask for a refund back directly with Cap One. When you got your refund back from them last time were there any conditions attached to your acceptance.

                      Hi There

No conditions, they paid up when I filed to court, I went for 25% back, Budgie helped me loads, as did others...... so helpful on here.

I have been adding the charges to my spreadie for the last few months, so will get ready for 1st letter soon.

They have asked me to complete a budget form, but I have been ill for some time now and they have asked for my bills and statements etc to do a budget plan.

I am no longer using the credit card and am paying something each month, just not the amount they are asking for
