  • Unfair credit card charges HELP

    Hi All,

    New to Beagles!

I have recently tried to make two claims for unfair credit card charges under hardship.

one claim with mint for around £500 and one with Egg for £950.

Mint & Egg have both rejected my claim for a refund. I have gone to the Ombudsman and they are now looking into my claims.

Has anyone on here had any recent luck with Egg or Mint with refunds?

If the Ombudsman rejects my claim, would it be worth taking Egg & Mint to a court? is it worth fighting for?

    thanks:beagle:

This is purely a personal opinion, but I think you'll find it hard to claim a refund retrospectively. If you'd written to them prior to the charges being applied or soon after they'd started applying them, you'd have a good argument that they should have stopped charges and frozen interest as long as you could back this claim of hardship up with proof via an Income and Expenditure form.

I wish you luck, but I think you may be trying to bolt the stable door after the horse has bolted.:tinysmile_grin_t:

      Thanks,

So you do not think it would be worth going to a small claims court if rejected by the ombudsman?:beagle:

I have had success from varoius companies getting credit card charges refunded ie. late payment/over limit charges. These charges have nothing to do with hardship but merely due to the OFT findings in 2006? by the OFT that these charges of £12 or more are excessive. Sorry have not had any dealings with the companies you have mentioned.
