Going to pop this one up as im not sure what to make of it.
As some of you know my credit score isnt best since I moved back to the uk thanks to various things. I took a vanquis card in the hopes of improving that. I have no complaints with the card, i pay 50% of the balance each month and while the interest is quite high, im improving my score so im happy.
What got me a little perturbed was that for the last few days, I have had calls from what appears to be vanquis - caller ID shows up as them (thought working in telecoms, I know that means nothing) - but I have been ignoring it. I have made way more than monthly minimum and my online account shows it, so I was not to bothered about answering their three times daily calls. However, when I did answer today it was unusual - before they speak to me about the point of the call, they want to know address, date of birth etc. Alarm bells rang and I said "you called me, I wont give that out" to which the caller hung up immediately, not even a "goodbye".
No one outside of three companies, my work, tmobile and vanquis have that phone number, and vanquis was only told of it via their website a day before the calls started.
So Im a little concerned, it feels like maybe someone has vanquis account holder details and is trying something on. I could be wrong and it was just one of their call centre monkeys, but for a company to call you several times per day, days in a row, including weekends (who isnt chasing debt) and ask for your DOB then hangup when you will not tell them seems unusual. Especially if the caller ID is the company they purport to be calling from. I called the customer support line afterwards and they have no records of anyone calling me.
I tried to speak to someone higher up about what happened but got brushed off like it was nothing to worry about as I handt told any details.
Want to put this out to the beagles incase something similar happens. NEVER give personal details to someone who calls you.
