Now, from the figures you gave me I have put them on the IE sheet and attached it below...you need to amend the monument and mbna figures to the true balances. Don't worry about it showing a minus figure. Abbey might come back to you and ask you to complete their own form, which is fine, just try return it as quick as poss.

Okay this is what ur doing

    ABBEY
send DISPUTE letter to the DCA (debt recovery people)
send REQUEST FOR REPAYMENT LETTER with the IE sheet to ABBEY - send it to the head office - TriTon house, London address I believe.

    MBNA
    send the CCA request letter
send the SAR when you can afford to (£10) (mum is going to give me this so I can do it tomorrow should i send one of these to monument too?)

    MONUMENT
    send the CCA request letter

Don't worry about anything else with those two as yet.

Is that ALL your debt ? Its all mine plus the council tax that was joint until Hubby went bankrupt

Will ask Tools to come post about MBNA if you like, as hes in middle of dealing with them. they seem to be the ones causing you the most stress ? The CCA request should help with a lot of it.
Mbna are definately the most rude and have been refusing to take token payments its over 150 or nothing the last letter wanted 1500 by the 25th like thats gonna happen??!!??

The sad thing was there was a guy I spoke to who was reasonable but as I had no bank card i had to ring back with someone whos bank card i was borrowing and the next guy that answered refused to put me back through to the first guy and said my offering or £25 was no good so wouldn't take it. The i am afraid to say i did an emu for a couple of weeks and did nothing

Just want to say thank you again for your time

Hi, only just noticed this thread. Welcome to Beagles.

Well if they refuse to take your payment over the phone, pay it over the counter at your bank, or Post Office, using your statement with the payment slip at the bottom. Then it will get to them anyway and you will have a record that you are maiking payments, all goes to show you are trying to be reasonable and not trying to avoid your debts.
      Is no longer here

Re: Help with credit card ?irresponsible limit increases?

        Hi again indebt2009,

As Amethyst has mentioned I have been trying to negotiate reduced payments with MBNA for a £5K debt on my Virgin Credit Card since November of last year.

They are a pain in the arse to deal with, but with a little patience, persistence & somewhere soft to bang your head against at times you can deal with them and all they throw at you.

They still refuse to accept my reduced monthly payments of £15, but I still keep making them. The person you need to contact is

        Matthew McGrath
        Head of Customer Assistance
        MBNA Europe Bank Ltd
        PO BOX 2001
        Freepost
        Chester Business Park
        Chester
        CH4 9TB
Write to them explaining in detail your current circumstances and how they came about. Send in a copy of your IE sheet as completed by Amethyst in the previous posts. Ask firstly for any further interest and charges to be stopped, secondly for any collections activity by telephone to cease as you insist that everything now be in writing and thirdly if they would consider, due to your circumstances, "writing off" the debt owed on your account.

They will want to contact you by telephone to run through your income and expenditure in detail, please don't be put off by this as it is a necessary evil but does speed up the process and when they do have the details it can be dealt with by just that department.

I now no longer receive phone calls from them only letters informing me that my account is in arrears by £xx etc, I make one phonecall to them each month and pay the £15 by debit card. Each time i do this, they still tell me it isn't enough to stop the debt being sold on to a Debt Collection Agency, but as yet, it has not.

They also recently offered me a reduced settlement of approx £1900 to clear the debt before it was sold, bargain!! Unfortunately, I do not have £1900 to give so will continue paying the £15 for now.

Will post more to help you later, but hope that has helped with the worry so far.
