Credit card use charge by airline in uk

18/09/2022 = Singapore airlines accepted booking and Credit card amount then, stated it had not gone through )Card company ask O\k yes) then they stated seat charge, we pointed out already booked and paid, then told to hold for a minute , they came back and stated £20+ credit card use charge???? wife said yes = too late I was paying. Now I thought that in UK no credit card percentage charge is to be levied> so an agree i.e.:_ £785 turns into £833.00??

looked on some agency sites and some state 1% charge on credit card use?

Not only that it seems airlines are circumnavigating credit payment i.e. separate invoice for seat charges, then getting credit card payment, after which charges made.
