  • Help with incorrect CRA entry

How can I speed up the process of a CRA correcting an entry on a credit file.
We are currently in the process of applying for a mortgage and were quite confident there wouldn’t be any problem as my partners credit file is pretty good. The mortgage broker has asked for copies of our credit reports from Check My File, which shows reports from 4 CRAs.
Equifax, Experian & Crediva all show correct information, but TransUnion shows a CCJ that was actually set aside in 2019. I’’ve emailed Check My File and TransUnion directly, but both are saying they’’ll look into the matter and respond within 28 days. This is just too long and is going to cause major problems for us.
I don’’t understand why it should take so long when it’s clearly just an error on their part. They’’ve even asked for a copy of the court documents yet surely everything should be available to them via their usual source which I assume is Registry Trust.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi Lindiloo

It does say up to 28 days, so that's the worse scenario. Send them a message via their Contact Member Support function. Explain the situation (applying for mortgage etc), they clearly have incorrect information on their systems and this could mean that you could lose the mortgage because of the incorrect information on their systems. Tell them you can send screenshots of the other reports.

State that you are considering taking further action as they are the only credit agency with the incorrect information on their systems.
