I have heard rumours that the above charity (conveniently funded by the F sector) has advised some clients to set up a DMP for statute barred debts. We here at LB know better!
For any consumer struggling with debts the first thing to do should be to send a CCA request. In many cases pre April 2007 debts are unenforceable and often involve credit cards were the creditor has been jacking the APR without debtor ever signing anything to agree to this practice. Store to crefit cards are a classic example.
No doubt Step Change would start talking about a moral obligation etc but those F institutions have been - and still are - fobbing consumers off so I have very little sympathy. Sorry Step Change but you are ****ers!
