Last updated at 11:51 AM on 14th May 2009
Two million items are to be sold for just 1p each as Marks & Spencer returns to its Penny Bazaar roots.
The sale is part of a celebration to mark 125 years since the company began.
For three days from next Wednesday, all 300 main stores will house an Original Penny Bazaar, offering 20 products including jewellery sets, beach balls, knickers, ties and socks.

On sale next week: Polka-dot scarf, usually £12, and teardrop necklace and earrings, normally £9.50, both 1p each at the Marks and Spencer Penny Bazaar
Shoppers will be limited to five items each while extra security staff will be drafted in to prevent a crush.
Executive chairman Sir Stuart Rose said: 'M&S has now been at the heart of Britain for 125 years and we believe that this is something worth celebrating.
'It's been a tough year for us all but people are fed up with being fed up and we wanted to give our customers a real treat.'
He said: 'M&S started off in life as a Penny Bazaar back in 1884.
'So what better way to share our birthday with our customers than offering them the chance to choose M&S products for just one penny?

Small pleasures: Leather-look coin purse, usually £4, and leopard-print briefs with lace-look trim, usually £3, both 1p each at the Marks and Spencer Penny Bazaar
'We've got two million one-penny products available, but my best advice to our customers is to get to M&S stores as early as you can, as we are sure this is going to go down a storm.'
The full range of special commemorative products consists of five jewellery sets, scarves, purses and knickers; commemorative cufflinks, ties and socks; leather passport holders and leather luggage tags; tea towels and mugs; bags of retro sweets, cans of retro drink, beach toys and beach balls.
Every penny raised through the bazaars will go towards the M&S 125 Charity Challenge, which aims to raise £1.25million for local and regional charities between May and September.

Customers queueing early for Penny Bazaar products will also be given a free peel-and-reveal card with the chance to win one of 700,000 rewards, including sixteen regional jackpots of £12,500.
Sir Stuart will be joined by Twiggy when he opens one of the Penny Bazaars at M&S's London flagship store at Marble Arch at 9am on Wednesday.
The store stressed that the 1p items were offered on the basis that they would be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.
... AND WHAT A PENNY COULD BUY YOU IN 1884
Marks & Spencer can trace its roots back to Leeds in 1884, and a stall at Kirkgate Market set up by the company's founder Michael Marks, a Russian-born Polish refugee.
He sold small household goods and haberdashery beneath a sign proclaiming: 'Don't ask the price - it's a penny!'.

Items included wooden spoons, pegs, buttons, mending wools, pins, needles, tapes, tablecloths, socks and stockings.
In 1893 he moved the head office of his business to Manchester, where he opened his first shop the following year. It was also in 1894 that he formed a partnership with Tom Spencer, a former cashier from the wholesale company IJ Dewhirst.
What a penny could buy you in 1884: Japanese pearl buttons (l) and hooks and eyes (r) were both sold at Marks and Spencer's Penny Bazaars
The company went from strength to strength, buying the London Penny Bazaar Company in 1914, extending its influence nationwide.
M&S, or 'Marks and Sparks' as it was affectionately known, became such a familiar name that it didn't even need to advertise. The first TV ad for M&S clothing did not appear until the mid-1990s.
For three days from next Wednesday, all 300 main stores will house an Original Penny Bazaar, offering 20 products including jewellery sets, beach balls, knickers, ties and socks.
