My son has had transactions on his monument account every month since Dec last year.
Monument rang him and said they thought that the transactions were fraudulent and they would investigate.
Having heard nothing he wrote to Monument on 12th April, denying the transactions were his and had they investigated the matter. Monument have still not replied.
I have today looked up Paycom.net and I can't make head nor tail of what kind of company it is. They have put 2 amounts on my sons card one for £14.11 and one for £20.94 these have amounts have now taken him over his limit and he has been charged over limit fees of £12 as well.
If he has subscribed to something then fair enough, but I myself think it is a scam.
Could someone a little brighter than me please have a look at the above company, when they get chance and help me out.
I know I should be asking my son these questions, but you would not believe how easy it is to fall out with him over something like this. Thanks for any help you can give. Enaid

They are an internet payment service provider which means they are clearing card payments for a 3rd party, they are also based in America, but their website says they cover the European Union.

They do seem to be a proper company, there's contact details and a phone number of their website: Paycom.net-Contact Us.

Let us know how you go on.

This is what I found, the thing is why would you have a monthly payment of the same amount to a company like this?
I know my son did a bit of interenet gambling, I also know he has not done it recently. Gambling would not require a d.d or anything like that would it?

Looks like a subscription (or possibly two) have the 2 amounts gone out every month?

Has he spoken to Monument about the problem? I know its difficult to get subscription payments cancelled from a CC but if there's a suspected fraud, surely the first thing they should do is cancel the payment!!!

One thing I do know is that credit card payments are protected so he should be able to get this money back once he gets more details.

The site you linked to is a US one so their advice is for dealing with US banks/CCs, I'll try and find some UK info for you.

Yes, two amount every month, Monument rang him and said they were suspect and they would investigate, no reply, so wrote to monument on 12th April, no reply. I have tried to ring them but obviously they won't speak to me.
Thing is Ian I know about his gambling and I think it's something to do with that! I think it's a scam and they have got his info from his credit card. I also think monument knew this, or why would they have contacted him?
If I ask my son about it, he just loses his temper, I think it's a way of getting out of admitting he has dropped another great B*****K.

There is a form to cancel a payment on their website but you need some details that I don't think you have. I think you would probably be more successful tackling this from the Monument side, asking them to cancel the card and reissue another one if necessary.

Thanks a lot for that Ian, I did see the cancelation form, but like you say I don't have the details. I have done a little more detective work and I think he has been on a porn site, that's probably why he lost his rag with me. I can't pull him for that he is old enough, trouble is he is daft enough to get stuck with a DD that's no use to him. Once again thanks very much. Enaid

Sorry to come in on this one, but if you have paycom on the statement then it is a membership possibly. They are an american firm and the bank/ Credit card company should have a contact telephone number for the us 24 hours a day. (I suspected the porn site to be honest- so tell him to go to that site and unsubscribe otherwise he will have to ring paycom with the details--which is more embarrassing)

                  Glad you posted that Nattie.
I was going to suggest the same thing, It might be an embarrisment to your lad enaid. I guess thats why he is reacting as he is.

                  Good luck,
but tread carefully to avoid embarrisment.

                  Regards,
                  Hod..Liam..

OK an update on this thread. As some of you suggest it may be a sensitive subject, but I would rather be frank and tell it as it is, after all this may become a problem for some one else in the future and I think it only fair that if I can help to solve it through my experience then so be it.
We did find out that Paycom.net is a legit co. They are a third party payment agency (that's as best I can explain it).
You can cancel these payments on line apparantly, my son tried but the info it asked for he had no idea of the answers. Therefore we went the phone route or rather OH did pretending to be our son.
We got a chocolate teapot, and none of my sons data ie account details etc were in their system. the teapot finished the conversation by saying someone who knew what was going on would get back to us within 48 hrs, do you know the answer to , did he call back?
So now we go to monument, who rang and wrote to my son asking if these were fraudulent payments, he said they were and they said they would investigate.
We heard nothing from Monument so we wrote to them in April, apparantly that letter was received but by customer services who did not pass it on to the fraud dept.
Rang the fraud dept yesterday, was asked to write a letter to them explaining the situation, which we have done. The lady also said that all money would be refunded, including any over limit fees caused by these payments.
We only have our word that he will get his money back, but it's a start, also the card has been stopped. He couldn't use it any way it's full up
Will keep you informed as to as a result and thanks for your replies.

my gut feeling says it is a repetitive payment, so it is worth keeping an eye on the statement around the time it would normally go out.

Thanks for that Nattie but the card has been blocked now, so hopefully they can't take any more payments.

                            OKIDOKI,
Another winning day for me, received this morning refund of all transactions taken by co above and all overlimit charges caused by these transactions. Total £209.22. Also an apology for any inconvenience caused. That'll do nicely.
By the way my son wasn't embarressed about this situation, that is the reason I helped him sort it out, he genuinly didn't have a clue. Admitted he may have visited a porn site, but he didn't sign up for direct debits.
Hope this helps if anyone else gets into a situation like this. Enaid
