No it is agree to them or reject them. If the bank send you out something in the post ie terms and conditions are changing, you can within 30 days reject or accept them

Reject means take my custom elsewhere. If I told my bank I didn't want to pay their new interest rate, they'd hardly say, Oh, OK then. Just carry on with the old rate.

It's take it or leave it.

True, but they also may not understand what you have written and therefore within that thirty days YOU have a contract variation and IF they breach it, BINGO you sue them in court and if you have the corresponence and evidence then BINGO stuff you bank time

You are a sneaky little beggar, and I like your thinking.

Hmm. Now if I just address my letter to the janitor's cat over at RBS HQ, I might be able to arrange that they have to pay me a suitable fee to allow me to continue banking with them. About £2K a month should do. Think of it asa "service", RBS

You could do that but remember the clause has to be reasonable and that is unreasonable.

No more unreasonable than £38 to bounce a DD.

              But I take your point.

If you were to send in a variance in the contract 30 days from tomorrow that all charges must be billed to you in advance and quote a part of the t and c's you are varying and they send you a standard letter back about charges then they have not answered the letter and so the variance will take effect. If they then charge you, then you can sue them for breach of contract as they have essentially accepted your variance.

You're a very bad person. Mrs LB is already dreading the thought that big lads with baseball bats are going to visit some day, so she's going to hate the next batch of letters I'll be sending.

But hey! The worst they can do is tell me they don't accept my notice.

A 76 year old lady who was told it was for the Direct Debit on the reverse if i can get photo bucket up i will show you, there is a distinctive line drawn underneath the checklist but the signature below covers the Direct debit and the Checklist, of which my mum was not informed was anything other than a Direct Debit form.

Cash points unreliable, different employees will give you different advice..

£5 not financially viable to the bank but extremely viable to the owner, unless you take all the cash out of the bank on payday, but then what is the point of having a bank account. Oh unless of course the cash point tells you you can with draw £10 but you only have £4.04 as Natwest did to my son on the 10th July 2007 oops sorry Sir that will be £30 please.

As stated the customers best interest will never exceed thought for profit, The banks advise they will act in my best interest. Not to wipe my nose but not to make my life harder either, when they have offered to give me a service to improve my money management by using their services.

When it is easier to have cash in your pocket and no bank card or bank account due to the worry of the underhanded and wrongful removal of funds from your account then something has gone wrong somewhere.

And I have tried to pay cash into my bank the day of a DD and been denied clearance for it, hense £30 charge.

I havent used a bank now for 16 months and it has been a breath of fresh air. its the only time I have known exactly who is not taking my money.

My halifax account holds back dd's until close of banking that day and if I pay cash in during that day they pay them and no charges!! They tried to stop doing it and I took them to task as I could prove they had done it in the past many times! Not their biggest fan but I do think that is pretty good.

LTSB are guilty of using my OH's out of date debit card after the account had been suspended to pay one of their subsidiaries - we have big battle going on about that on the basis that if he had tried to use the card it would have been refused.

Natwest have just charged us £150 (bus acct) for letting us go £100 over our overdraft for a couple of days - well big thanks for that one - really helped us out!!

Oh and the petrol pump at Asda told me I could have £70 of fuel (unlikely in my little Clio) when there was only £5 left in the account!
