Will the bank stop charging me when i make a claim for bank charges?

The banks systems are automated so when a prelim letter goes in, it does not change the automation of the banks systems so the bank will charge you as per usual if no money is in the account to cover payments going out of the account. If you have opened a parachute account- this refers to an account at another bank, then you have begun the fight back by keeping tabs on the balance and making sure money is in the account to cover payments going out. This means you have a fresh start and once you have won your claim, and if further charges were applied to the old debt ridden one, then claim them back and then kiss good bye to the old bank.
The new account is your new life and you are in control of that.

I agree. I started a new account completely fresh when i begn claiming.

No overdraft (I left that where it was to be paid off with the refund and monthly installlments)

New account with salary in each month, salary out each month. No debit card, only cash, and only a couple of DD's. The rest are standing order and cash.

I am completely in control.

I have slipped up once since last April.

Whereas I have claimed by over £6k from my previous bank for the last 6 years.

They are still charging themselves charges, when i get around to it I'll claim them back to close the account.
