Hi
My husband had some problems in 2008 when his wallet was stolen and had some fraudulent activity (cash taken out, direct debits set up etc). Lloyds were informed at the time and assured him that the account would be closed and everything sorted out for him, the charges on the account for unauthorised overdraft etc would be reversed. In November 2010 we tried to apply for a joint account which was declined and found that a default for Lloyds was showing. We contacted Lloyds who apologized and assured him his credit file would be updated and gave him £100 in compensation. He doesn't apply for much credit but he was declined for a bank account application last summer and we were told there was something on his credit file. We had a look and couldn't see anything. He's just tried again for a bank account and was declined so we got a copy of his credit file again today and it showing a default for Lloyds from 2008 which is the same one they promised would be resolved. I have of course written to them to complain but what I would like to know is how much compensation should we be looking for due to him not being able to obtain credit for almost four years and them telling him it would be resolved but it hasn't been?
Thanks
