If the banks wishes to Treat Customers Fairly and state that returning a cheque is a service fee then maybe they should read the code they signed up to in 2006 and still in force.
"if applicable, charges for standard account services such as charges for processing cheque/standing orders/direct debits/uk card transactions" should involve 14 days notice of charges.
returning an item is processing so if that is a standard service provided then why not 14 days?
